I’ve always been an outdoors sort of person. I think it started when I joined the Boy Scouts, aged eight.

I stayed with them until the age of sixteen and have since qualified as a bushcraft instructor. I went on to study for a degree in psychology and biology, and worked as a special needs assistant in a number of schools.

It was very rewarding to be able to engage effectively with children who had behavioural and learning difficulties. One of my aims in life is to make a positive difference to people’s lives by helping them realise their potential, no matter who they are.

I’m a national champion in Historical European Martial Arts – meaning those that originated in Europe – and run a weekly children’s sword fighting club.

I also work as a specialist mentor for degree students with autism and I’ve supported people with learning disabilities into work as a job coach. For a bit of extra fun on the side, I design games (both for the traditional board and for the computer).

I’ve been been involved with Sacred Earth since 2011 as a committee member and Earth Steward Apprenticeship instructor. It’s really given me the opportunity to bring together my love of the outdoors and my passion for engaging with people’s lives in a positive way.
