I’m a businessman and committed philanthropist, supporting a wide range of projects and groups that benefit the environment and local communities.
Some of the causes close to my heart include organic farming, indigenous rights, protecting biodiversity, social cohesion, and projects that fight against human rights violations.
I built up an auction house business during the 1980s, which I still own today. In 1990 I trained as a yoga teacher and now I divide my time between this, the business and the various projects I support. I also volunteer regularly for A Band of Brothers; a mentoring programme for young men involved in the criminal justice system.
I met Phil Greenwood while studying biodynamic farming at Emmerson College in 2008. We quickly realised that we had a lot in common and soon became firm friends. When, a few years later, he took me to visit the Old Horam Brickworks – which had recently gone up for sale – I was so inspired by his vision for its regeneration that I decided to buy it.
That land is now Sacred Earth; a thriving community organisation with ecological, therapeutic, agricultural and community aims.
Roger also offers his invaluable leadership skills at our quarterly management committee meetings.
