Attitude of Gratitude
Connect to your heart. As soon as you wake up think of three things you feel grateful for.
-
Take a moment every day to take three deep breaths
To become present and notice how you are feeling. If you are feeling some uncomfortable feelings see if by accepting them you can let them go a little and let go of some tension from your body.
-
Every day take a moment to connect to the natural world
Bring your full attention to nature, the blue sky, a clouds moving, a bird singing, a squirrel jumping, the leaves on a tree, the texture of bark, a walk in nature, a sit spot to just sit and be.
-
Keep your body healthy
Be active every day, whether that is going for a walk, to the gym, for a swim, Yoga, Tai chi, a game of tennis, dancing. Research has shown that 30 mins exercise 3-5 times a week helps to support optimal health and reduce depression.
-
Eat organic local and seasonal food when possible,
E.g. find your local veg box supplier and sign up.
-
Keep your mind inspired
Read something new every day; an inspiring article, book, poem or blog, e.g, Resurgence or Permaculture magazine, listen to inspiring talks e.g. TED talks on Youtube, a dharma talk (www.dharmaseed.org), watch an inspiring film.
-
Keep your emotional self vibrant by listening deeply to what makes you feel happy
Meet/phone a good friend, spend quality time with yourself or others who you love, do the things you love doing and that which nourishes you.
-
Be creative
Try something new, a new hobby, walking in a different environment, reading, being creative can improve mood, and self-esteem, as well as improving mental agility.
-
Purpose beyond self
Get involved with a project, such as Sacred Earth, something that you resonate with and shares your beliefs, a place where you can meet like-minded people and share ideas, time, stories and feel connected.
-
Take time to meditate
To breathe, to become still, to calm the mind to simply be, to connect, to reconnect and to stay connected.
